Payne’s Crossing ~ “The bridge that dad built”
The motivation for this label came from the very first wine we produced out of Broke in the Hunter Valley. I was driving home talking to my Dad on the phone, saying I needed a name for my new wine. He quickly replied “where is it from” and I said Broke in the Hunter Valley. He then explained that in the 50s he had been contracted to build a bridge at Payne’s Crossing not far from Broke. Ironically I drove over the bridge shortly after that phone call, got out and walked around ..............................the name was born.
Payne’s Crossing 2009 Semillon Verdelho, 2008 Shiraz Viognier and 2008 Merlot are the current wines available in limited quantities.
